EKI Environment & Water, Inc. (EKI) is a national employee-owned, full-service environmental engineering, water resources engineering, and environmental sciences consulting firm, serving private- and public-sector clients.
We are currently seeking a Data and Systems Integration Specialist to help drive the development, integration, and optimization of the company’s data, software applications, and technological solutions to meet our strategic objectives.
This role will be integral in the tactical execution of storage, monitoring, scripting, and integration of company data and systems. This role will serve as a liaison between the IT department, technical staff, and other support roles and stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Management and System Integration
- Process and manage large datasets on cloud platforms, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Assess current and future data storage needs, providing recommendations for cost-effective and scalable solutions.
- Integrate AI machine learning into company systems and processes to drive growth and business objectives.
- Maintain, enhance, and expand data visualization tools to improve client-facing services and internal processes.
- Manage and maintain interactive client subscription delivery services, including dashboards and decision support tools (DSTs), and software subscriptions.
- Develop and maintain AWS-based infrastructure to facilitate scientific modeling operations and support business objectives.
- Build and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline processes.
- Oversee the integration of environmental software, scripts, interactive dashboards, and databases into existing IT infrastructure.
- Work with technical staff to identify gaps and forecast and optimize data storage and computing needs to ensure infrastructure is adequate and scalable to meet current and future business requirements.
Communication and Support
- Serve as the primary liaison between the IT department, technical staff, and vendors for technology integration and support.
- Communicate technical requirements, updates, and project timelines clearly between technical staff, end-users, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Assess staff needs and recommend tailored hardware and software solutions to meet operational requirements.
- Provide ongoing support to technical staff using the integrated systems, resolving issues and providing guidance as necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation is available for training, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
- Provide regular reports to the IT Manager and senior management team on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as system usage, performance, and integration progress.
- Support IT Manager in the development of the annual budget based on ongoing and forecasted needs.
- Support in the development of best practices and training programs for end-users on data and software system applications.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, communication engineering, or electrical/systems engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud computation, coding, system integration, and scripts, ideally in an environmental or data-driven organization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in scripting and backend languages (Python).
- Strong knowledge of cloud technologies and data migrations.
- Experience with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure) and associated scripting.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Microsoft Suite of Power tools).
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (AGOL) preferred but not required.
- Experience in groundwater modeling software (AQTESOLV, MODFLOW), preferred but not required.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical staff and operations to ensure alignment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially with complex software systems.
- High attention to detail, particularly in managing data transfer and quality.

The expected compensation range for this position is $90,000 – $130,000 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
