Are you looking to ramp up your water resource management plans and programs? Are you looking to find ways to address drought contingency plans or implement new conservation programs for your local region? The 13th Annual WaterSmart Innovations Conference returns October 6-7, 2021, at the South Point Conference Center in Las Vegas. The conference and expo focuses on emerging and cutting-edge water-efficiency products and services. Don’t miss presentations on water shortage and water conservation analysis and planning, led by members of EKI’s Water Resources Team Drew Bost and Susan Xie:
Targeting Future Conservation Efforts
(Wednesday, 6 October 2021, from 3:15 pm – 3:45 pm)
Drew Bost of EKI and Ryan Grisso of North Marin Water District will describe the various spatial analysis tools and data that North Marin Water District used to assess the spatial and demographic distribution of conservation program participation to identify customers sects that have not been tapped into by previous conservation programs. The session will also discuss the actions that the District plans to implement to increase participation in their conservation programs based on these analyses.
Increasing Confidence into Your Water Shortage Contingency Plans
(Thursday, 7 October 2021 from 9:40 am – 10:10 am)
Water Resources Engineer Susan Xie will introduce EKI’s Drought Response Tool (DRT) – an Excel-based spreadsheet model that provides a quantitative framework that allows water agencies to systematically estimate the monthly and cumulative annual demand reductions expected to result from particular combinations of drought response actions and associated implementation rates. In this talk, Ms. Xie will describe the analytical approach used by the DRT, provide a summary of the results of the retrospective drought response modeling that was conducted, and share the lessons we learned through the process of applying the DRT for agencies across California.
